Jeffrey Reiss CLU - Bio
Managing Director and Chancellor Jeffrey A. Reiss is a Rotary Special Ambassador for Peace....Rotary Districts.
A charismatic International speaker on behalf of peace for over 25 years,and an avid world traveler, he has enthusiastically addressed international congresses, Peace conventions and Rotary clubs across Asia and the US, as well as Montessori schools, and many key UNICEF events.

Jeffrey is a Rotary Foundation Benefactor since 2004

Jeffrey has received numerous acknowledgments and awards, including commendations from UNICEF and many local and state school boards, the Martin Luther King Jr.  Humanitarian Award, and a multiple nomination for the Gandhi Foundation Peace-Keeping Award.

The City of Los Angeles awarded Jeffrey its Distinguished Service Peace Medal in acknowledgment of his Rotary actions: "Service Above Self", since 1996, when he joined the Rotary Club of Terra Linda-District 5150, sponsored by Rtn. Brian McLeran.

Jeffrey holds degrees and diplomas from The College of Life Underwriters in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and the Burklyn Business School in Vermont.

He has earned  a Honolulu Community Negotiators Certificate and has completed advanced studies in communication at More University, California and Hawaii; supporting his work as a skilled negotiator and communication therapist.

He is currently receiving education and training in Nonviolent Communication, an approach to conflict resolution and interpersonal communication developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, used by the United Nations Peacekeepers.

In 1988, Jeffrey became an official Peace Researcher at the Sparky Matsunaga Institute of Peace at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a post in which he remains active today. 

The Rotary District Peace Communities Project appointed him a Special Peace Ambassador in 1999.  He is also an affiliate of the Mentoring Millions School Project and director of "Building Bridges," a program that links Rotary Clubs through their Sister Cities and Schools, as outlined in the Sister Cities International Education Project.

He recently played an important part in the effort to finally include Peace Poles in the opening ceremonies at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah; those famous Peace Poles now stand there,along the winding paths of the largest Peace Park in the United States.

An accomplished speaker, Jeff is also an award winning Toastmaster and novice webmaster, as well as enjoying Yoga, fishing and being an historian and researcher, and developing the World Peace Center complex on Samui Island in Thailand.

Currently he and Rtn. Geoff Little are organizing a Peace Pole presentation to RI President Tanaka at the RI 2012 Convention in Bangkok later this year, as well as participating in the Rotary Peace Symposium there in early May. Jeffrey is planning to be an active part of the Rotary Peace Forum in Honolulu in January 2013. This year's theme is "Peace Through Service"

Every summer he drives the Rotary Peace Cities Mobile 1 across the southwest, visiting Rotary Clubs and schools, and gardens and parks to encourage community gardening, composting and recycling, as well as the installation of a Rotary Peace Pole and/or garden.

The Rotary Club of Mill Valley, Ca. will install a new Rotary Peace Pole downtown on 9/21, bearing the phrase "Peace Through Service" as well as "Sustainable Mill Valley".

Jeffrey has recently been nominated for the Rotary Peace Hall of Fame, along with Geoffrey Little.

A much anticipated addition to the Solar Living Institute in Hopland-Ukiah, California will be a Rotary International Peace Pole and Gardens, featuring a solar powered  illuminated Peace pole, and visited by over 150,000 annually. Co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hopland and Rotary District Peace Cities, the pole will bear the inscriptions "Peace Through Service" and "Peace For Everyone - Under The Sun".
Jeff is creating the event with Rotary District 5130, the RC of Ukiah, and support from clubs in District 5150-Marin.
